Plitvice lakes

Plitvice lakes – is a national park located in central Croatia. It is the largest and the oldest national park in Croatia. It consists of 16 terraced lakes, joined by waterfalls, walkways, and hiking trails. It is divided into 2 sections, upper, and lower lakes. There is an electric boat link between the lakes. The main attraction is Veliki Slap. It is the 78m high waterfall located in lower lakes.

Itineary:

  • Pick-up in the morning at 07:30 a.m.
  • Stop to buy some supplies (optional)
  • Leave from Split
  • Arrive at 10:30 (depends on traffic)
  • Drop off at the upper lakes and pick-up afterwards at designated time at lower lakes
  • Return to Split

  • Visit a small town called Rastoke, which is 20 min away from the park

Rastoke

Rastoke is a small village located in central Croatia, 30 kilometers up north from Plitvice lakes.
Rastoke is also known as the small Plitvice because of the river Korana which connects to Plitvice lakes.
Rastoke is known for its water-powered mechanical mills.
The first mill dates back to the 17th century, and at its peak Rastoke counted up to 22 mills.
